“Paul, Nathlay, and Carmen of Relocation Services of Ecuador did an amazing job organizing and shipping our belongings. Not only did they provide all the details we needed upfront, they went out of their way to ensure our container was at our house on the exact date we needed it, even though there was a snafu with the container company. They were there for us every step of the way and it was great to be able to know that we could count on them to keep our belongings safe as well as avoid any surprises along the way. I highly recommend Relocation Services of Ecuador”.

Hello,

I was reading your comments at Expat.com. I was wondering if you could help me with a quote, procedure, times, deadlines for a 20″ container to be shipped from Miami to Pifo (near Quito). Door to door service. I want to purchase our household goods like kitchen items, social rooms, sofas, decoration, our old couches and personal items, and others.

Please let me know if you can help me. I currently live outside of Quito, in a town called Pifo. My wife has a ecuadorian visa and she is moving to live here in Ecuador. Any comments will be very helpful.

Regards,

RSE promised us “door to door” service from Maryland, USA to Cuenca Ecuador and that was what we got from Paul and Nathaly, the efficient and thoroughly professional duo that make up the core of RSE.

Tele’s passport number was incorrectly entered into the system when we arrived in Quito. It took Paul just one day to get it corrected. That is a miracle and our lawyer confirmed it. We appreciate what Paul did even better now that we have had to deal with similar government establishments since arriving in Cuenca 3 months ago.

Delivery of our container to El Valle was smooth and effortless. The work crew was pleasant, friendly and respectful. Great experience all round. Thank you Paul and feel free to use us as referals. You have our number!

My name is John Dayn Romine and I have recently moved from the USA to Cuenca, Ecuador S.A. with my wife and our dog.
Prior to our moving we decided to bring all of our household belongings with us. We did a thorough search for a way to get our belongings from south eastern USA to Cuenca, Ecuador.
We found Relocation Services of Ecuador. Paul Wilches and Nathaly Consuegra gave us a complete description of what we needed to do and exactly what they would do for us in writing via email and telephone conversation.
The only thing we had to do was load the ship container that they sent to our house in the USA. They did everything all the way to unloading our belongings in our new house in the rooms that they were directed to.
Their services from start to finish were most excellent. Their professionalism, friendly attitude, and willingness to help in every way has developed a true friendship between us.
Everything was smooth and done in a most timely manner.

Grahame & I would like to express how satisfied we are with the container shipping services you provided!
From start to finish, your service was professional, informative and invaluable!

“No one should leave home without you!” ….Your services can be trusted to help any immigrant to Ecuador with their container needs. Trying to bring a container in without the highly experienced, professional services of Relocation Services of Ecuador could be a very expensive mistake!

Furthermore, our journey was a bit different, our container came in attached to my visa and I (Kimberlee)had to go it alone. Paul Wilches, assured me that all would be okay and as long as he was there to communicate for me (since I speak little Spanish) that there was nothing to worry about, and to relax! He was right! Everything went especially well! The delivery service to our Ecuador home “door” was extraordinary…the unload team was very considerate handling and placing our household where we requested.

Thank you again for your services, we could not be more pleased with Relocation Services of Ecuador!

Looking to ship a container to Ecuador…..

Heard and read all the horror stories…….. So did I, and thus, spent quite a bit of time doing my due diligence…………. I wound up choosing Relocation Services of Ecuador, Paul Wilches and Nathaly Consuegra, who I refer to as the dynamic duo.  I was provided a detailed door to door quote from Houston TX to Cuenca and based on four other quotes, they were the most reasonable. But what really made up my mind to to use them was the fact that Paul was there at every crossroad, answering questions and making recommendations that made the process painless.     Were there some bumps in the road, you can count on them. What made the difference was Paul and Nathaly were right on the issue, and kept the process moving forward.  The icing on the cake was when my container arrived and Paul and Nathaly’a team unloaded the container. They were great, and when we had an issue with our bedroom headboard and marble top kitchen table not fitting in the elevator…. They carried both these items up 16 flights…… I was impressed……. Shipping containers:  Relocation Services of Ecuador

My original intent was to fly first class to Ecuador and bring as much as I could bring in luggage on two separate trips within a six month period.  As time went on, though, I realized I’d never be able to bring many of the small kitchen appliances and other items I wanted to bring, so I contacted Paul Wilches and Nathaly Consuegra of Relocation Services of Ecuador in September about getting estimates on what it would cost to ship a lift van (an 87″ x 87″ x 45″ plywood container held together with metal straps) or a 20′ shipping container.  For me, the lift van worked out best because I wasn’t bringing any furniture, but many small boxes of household items, a large flat screen TV and  gas grill.

Once I received the estimates, it became clear that the lift van was the best alternative for me, and as it turned out, was cheaper than the cost of trying to fly my belongings down in two separate trips while allowing me to bring in many more items.  Paul and Nathaly coordinated the whole process from beginning to end and Relocation Services of Ecuador has offices in the US as well as Cuenca, so the process was seamless.

First of all, I am almost setteled in our new home here in Cuenca, Ecuador thanks to the two of you, Paul and Nathaly. All of our household items arrived in tact. The two of you are very hard working, thorough, honest, and really knowledgeable in your area of expertise (relocating). I obtained several bids regarding moving our forty foot container to Cuenca, Ecuador. Relocation Services of Ecuador was able to communicate in English what the complete job would consist of. As we say in English I asked the five W’s (who, what, where, when, why, and sometimes how), and all questions were answered with no hesitation during the presentation regarding services provided by Relocation Services Of Ecuador. I like very much when companies do not pressure me to make a decision. Relocation Services Of Ecuador waited patiently and I made the decision to select a wonderful organization to coordinate the complete move from start to finish.

The port experience is something I will never forget. First of all when I say “hard working” I mean early long hours to Guayaquil from Cuenca. It was not necessary to go to the port, but I wanted to view the total picture.

Delivery of our forty foot container from Guyaquil to Cuenca occurred two days later. I believe there were 10-12 men unloading all of our household items. Let me tell you, that was hard work, and the guys were so courteous, doing the work with a smile. Looking

On May 15, 2014 my wife and I moved to Cuenca, Ecuador. We had visited Cuenca 3 times prior to moving here. Every time we visited Cuenca we were always told positive stories about the folks at Relocation Services of Ecuador. Both Nathaly Consuegra and Paul Wilches are friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable about moving your household belongings to Ecuador. Being bilingual, they make every step of the process less stressful. Our experience with RSE was wonderful. Their step-by-step documentation (which was emailed to us prior to our move) took all the guess work out of what needed to be completed for both the shipper and Ecuadorian Customs. Please feel free to contact me through email –jabadead@gmail.com – if you would like to discuss our move to Ecuador,
as well as the professional group at RSE.

Paul Wilches is a life saver. I hired an unprofessional transportation company in the US that would have left me high and dry in Guayaquil with an automobile that would not have been allowed in the country and an inventory that had no detail what-so-ever. Paul gave me solid advice and we worked around several touchy issues. I ended up having to sell the car, but after the inventory was redone to Paul’s specifications my household goods were delivered without a hitch. Could not be happier with his service.

I would highly, highly recommend Paul Wilches and his company Relocation Services of Ecuador for your shipping needs. Paul and his assistant, Nathaly Consuegra, are professional, courteous, friendly, and not to mention very competent. They remained in communication with me throughout the process, and you couldn’t ask for better representation with the Ecuadorian customs officials. Everything was also handled in a very timely manner as well. I couldn’t be more satisfied with the job Paul and Nathaly did.

My wife and I became Ecuador residents in November of 2013. We then returned to the States to prepare a very complicated three way move. RSE handled the import of a 20’ container filled with all of our household goods. They provided helpful instructions on packing everything correctly, how to label the boxes, and how to prepare an inventory list. They handled all of the paperwork, including translating the inventory list into Spanish. The day before our container arrived, Nathalie met us in Guayaquil and walked us through the process of preparing and signing the paperwork so that RSE could receive the container on our behalf – we never had to go to the dock or Customs ourselves. When the container arrived, RSE was there to oversee everything. Although Customs did open and inspect many of our boxes, not a single item was questioned or taxed. RSE had the container placed on a truck, driven to Salinas, and provided workers to unload everything and bring it all up to our condo. We shipped a variety of kitchen items, furniture, musical instruments, electronics, glassware, mirrors, art work – you name it. And I’m happy to report not a single item was lost or damaged in shipment.

RSE provides a wonderful and professional service, and we recommend them to anyone who is considering a move to Ecuador.

My husband and I employed the service of Paul Wilches at Relocation Services of Ecuador for our move from New Hampshire to Cuenca, Ecuador. Moving is a difficult and often emotionally charged experience, but Paul and his charming and very competent assistant, Nathalie, were indescribably helpful in providing the information we needed in to itemize and pack our belongings, which we kept in storage with an independent storage company for several months prior to utilising the services of Relocation Services of Ecuador. Our only regret is that we used the services of an independent storage company instead of using Paul’s established business contacts for that stage of the process.   However, Paul and Nathalie showed extreme patience and skill in negotiating with the very difficult manager of the storage company in New Hampshire and then coordinated the remaining stages of the move with  the truckers and international shipper. Paul accompanied us to Guayacil for the Ecuador Customs inspection and provided a calming presence on the trip and during the inspection process. During the Customs inspection, when I found the urn with my father’s ashes open and scattered in the box, Paul quietly reassured me, respectfully  retrieved the ashes, and returned them to the urn. When issues arose during the inspection due to inventory problems arising from the storage company’s incompetence, Paul was there to negotiate with officials, provide reassurance to us, and essentially,  saved the day.  Our belongings arrived in our condo intact, and we are grateful daily for Paul and Nathalie’s skills in all areas of the complicated process in the move to the beautiful city of Cuenca.

Sincerely,

I would be pleased to give Paul and his staff at Relocation Services of Ecuador my strongest recommendation. Paul provided a great deal of information from the start which was invaluable and eased the whole process.
He worked closely with the moving and packing company that I had hired in Canada not only providing them information on how my goods should be packed inventoried and labeled but also assisting them with the documentation they would have to provide.

He clearly explained each step and accurately indicated the time frame required to complete it. He and his staff arrived when promised and handled my belongs with care. His final invoice was the exactly the amount he quoted.

I have no hesitation in recommending RSE to anyone needing his services.

Welcome to Ecuador,

I am a retired business consultant. I was very impressed with the professionalism of Paul and Nathaly. They truely know their business. Everything was clearly explained and entered on my contract. There were no surprizes. I don’t know what Ryan’s problem is but I know his comments are completely out of line. Niether Paul or Nathally would ever raise their voice to “yell” at anyone. They are excellant business people and deal with everyone in a civil and business like manner. Do yourself a favor and go to Relocation Services of Ecuador and find out for yourself.

Would give an unrestricted and enthusiastic endorsement to Paul Wilches and Nathaly Consuegra of Relocation Services. I was introduced to Paul through Ecuadorian friends that I have known for over 20 years. They have known Paul since his childhood, and used his services to relocate a family member from the States back to Cuenca. The shipping agent at my point of origin stubbornly refused to comply with the content documentation recommended by Paul. At Paul’s insistence, over several months, the documents were corrected.A flawless transport and safe delivery was accomplished. Feel free to contact me directly with questions.

If you’re thinking about moving to Ecuador make sure and contact Paul and Nathaly first. Both are fluent in English and know the ropes.

Paul Wilches and Nathaly Consuegra handled my container from pickup at a New Mexico mini-storage to delivery in Cuenca. No hitches, no delays and excellent unloading crew at my two-level condo.

They know the ins and outs of customs inventories, procedures and valuation as well as how to ship without a visa already in hand. And either Paul or Nathaly normally goes to Guayaquil to oversee the customs inspection instead of just using agents.

They also helped keep my Quito attorney focused on my visa. TLC all around. It’s a good feeling using in-country people who are there at the finish.

After nearly two years of moving to Cuenca, I am still asked about shipping our household goods. Without any doubt, I recommend Relocation Services of Ecuador. I could not have imagine a smoother, completely trouble free moving our container, from the time of pick
up, thru handling all documents, fees, customs and more, all the way to bringing all of our belonging to each room of our condo. Thank you Relocation Services of Ecuador for making our move so easy and stress free.

I would like to put my two cents in for Paul Wilches of Relocation Services of Ecuador. I emailed him this morning saying I wanted to ship a few boxes of personal items to Cuenca, because I couldn’t bring them on the plane. This afternoon he called me to explain the facts of Ecuadorian importation to me. A visa is required before you can ship used items to Ecuador. I call that responsive service.

When ready to move to Ecuador, we chose Relocation Services of Ecuador.net as our mover. They kept in touch with us regularly as we began our move in December 2012. They gave an exact time for the container and maneuvered it around the holidays. When our truck arrived in Cuenca, it was 8 at night, but Paul Wilches and his crew carefully unloaded it. Nice job, RSE! I recommend your services.

We are happy to recommend RSE (Relocation Services Ecuador) for their expert and caring support in smoothly negotiating the path (tricky for everyone!) of relocation from the US to Ecuador. The principal, Paul Wilches, and all on the RSE staff, brought experience and knowledge to each of the many steps involved.

Contacting Paul I was impressed: He was genuinely concerned that I receive good value for any money I spend on overseas shipping. And he explained time variables that affect the duty-free status of the items brought in. After talking, I felt I could make an informed decision. His company is a great shipping resource for expats.

We did some research and used Paul and Nathaly of RSE to bring our belongings from the U.S. to Cuenca in a 20 ft. container. 25 days! Amazing, no problems, and we would gladly recommend them to everyone. They have been in the business for years and know their stuff. Both speak fluent English and are easy to communicate with, VERY important when trying to follow all of the rules for customs.
Highly recommended.

In 2010, we began our plans to move to Ecuador.  We contracted Relocation Services of Ecuador to move our container.  At that time, we weren’t sure how big a container we would bring.  Time went by.  We paid the inital fee of $700 to open the contract. Nathaly assisted us with preparation of our inventory, providing information on how to pack, how to list items, and how to proceed.  We settled on a moving date in Dec 2012 and Paul arranged for the container to come to our door.  I retired on Dec 14, so we had 13 days to pack.  Not enough, so we found a mover experienced in packing for international moving.  That was expensive!  They loaded the container, after complaining that 4 hours was not enough time for them.  So, contacted Nathaly, who negotiated additional time for the truck to be loaded. Since Paul works directly through the shipper, RSE was able to provide a lower price than other relocation companies we had contacted.  Our container loaded and was moved to the port in Houston, where Paul took care of all the customs procedures in the U.S. port.  We sent our inventory to RSE, and Nathaly translated it according to local laws, which change often.  There was a small hiccup in that the visa we had applied for in November was not yet ready when the container came into port on Jan 20.  RSE advised us how to get a bank account and then put up the money required for customs to accept the container.  RSE is required to place a value on the container to clear customs.  Based on that value, we were able to take out a certificate of deposit and get a bank guarantee to bring the container into the country.  We had 180 days.  Our shipment was cleared, unloaded for customs and reloaded in Guayaquil (GYE), because Cuenca customs was not accepting any additional containers and we could avoid a delay of possibly several weeks by clearing customs in Guayaquil.

Dear Michelle and Relocation Services,

Paul Wilches gave us your email as a reference for having shipped a container

with RSE.

My husband and I purchased an old building in Cuenca which has been in

a state of renovation for almost two years. We hope to move this spring.

We would appreciate any information about your experience with RSE.

We have also been reading about the high humidity inside of containers

in which they actually say it can rain.

We are concerned about how to protect our artwork. Any information that you

have about this would be greatly appreciated.

Where in Ecuador are you located?

Thank You,

Dorie Deal and Bob Hoerster

We are happy to provide a positive reference for RSE. We are in Cuenca and have been here 5 months, and we enjoy it very much!

RSE was wonderful to work with.  The laws change here in Ecuador quite often, and it is a challenge to keep up with them.  Because of their partnership with a law firm which is in the same building as they are. They are very competent in recommending what to bring and not bring, and getting the container through customs.

We had a very positive experience with RSE.  We had never tried to relocate outside the US before, so of course we had a million questions and just about as many anxieties.  They were very patient with us and handled the relocation very well.  In addition to the container, they helped us with telephone, internet, bank accounts, and understanding how to peacefully co-exist in Ecuador.  We waited 10 days for our container to get through customs.  We still visit the RSE folks about once a week just to say “hi” because they are such lovely people.

We packed our 20 foot container ourselves and it included quite a bit of artwork, including framed art and bronzes.  Here is what we did to wrap and cushion the framed artwork:.
1. Wrapped the artwork in bubble wrap.  Not just the frame but the entire picture
2. Next wrapped the artwork in butcher paper (purchased at U-Haul), taped securely
3. Next wrapped the artwork in plastic (purchased at Home Depot)
4. Build a container of cardboard for each piece, and “suspended” the artwork inside it so that it would not ding the corners if dropped hard
By the way, we brought in a couple of college kids and paid them $10/hour to wrap all our art.  Money well spent!
This will protect the artwork from drops vertically.  The challenge come

RSE Services during our recent move – Comment & Commendation

Dear Relocation Services, Paul, and Catalina:

Our moving of household goods from the U.S. to Cuenca is complete and all of you at RSE have exceeded our expectations with your outstanding service and expertise.

As you may be aware, there are many horror stories from ExPats living here in Cuenca about shipping their personal belongings. Listening to folks who have had their shipment held in Guayaquil for up to six months; who have had thousands of dollars in extra costs added; and the whole drama of not knowing when or if you will see your possessions again – made Dan and I acutely aware that we had to do our homework.

Although we had heard good comments about RSE, we were not sure we wanted to ship, or move here – like many – with our suitcases. We made an appointment with you Paul to get an overview about the process. During that time we decided to ship our belongings. Subsequently we met with you Relocation Services, to review RSE’s contract, conditions, and terms.

We had a lot of questions and appreciated very much how Paul, Relocation Services, and Catalina took time to go over details, providing answers and explanations throughout the process so that we felt as comfortable as possible. Additionally, you were all very responsive to our calls, emails and (sometimes) repeated questions to keep us up to date and informed.

Thirty days door to door. No damage, not one extra charge. A 3-day delay by Customs in Guayaquil which Paul resolved on the fourth day. On the same day the container arrived in Cuenca we sailed through Customs and the load was on the road to our house. Everything was unloaded by 3 p.m.

Relocation Services, thank you for describing the process and its potential pitfalls in the beginning, and for always being available when we needed you.

Paul, thank you for keeping us on course.

“I started to use a lawyer in Quito, but I decided to, instead, use a full-service relocation service, Relocation Services of Ecuador ( www.RelocationServicesOfEcuador.net ), in Cuenca Ecuador.

Relocation Services of Ecuador not only helped me with all of the morass of requirements of moving; they helped me get a cell phone and a bank account, within the first week; and they also provided me with a local Cuenca lawyer, where everyone in the office speaks perfect English.

I used Relocation Services of Ecuador just the other day, when I was at the ETAPA telephone office and couldn’t stretch my feeble Spanish far enough to communicate. I made a quick cell-phone call to their wonderful bi-lingual “Girl Friday;” handed the phone to the ETAPA clerk, and everything was instantly fixed.

Almost everything has gone without a hitch. The only exception has been getting a statement of retirement income Apostilled, which required the document be sent to the US Department of State (State Department). That took some time, but it wasn’t too much of a hassle. Relocation Services of Ecuador provided me with a legal contact in Texas, who handled the State Department requirements, and forwarded the Apostilled document to me in Cuenca.

Lesson learned: If you are coming to Ecuador for a retirement residency Visa, and you are retired military or other federal retirement, be sure to get your statement of income and get it apostilled at the US State Department, before you get on the airplane.

John and I began thinking of moving to Ecuador in 2010.  We attended an International Living Conference in Quito Ecuador in February/March 2010.  We realized that we loved Ecuador. John and I were looking for a way to retire.  We could not do this in the United States so we started thinking of moving outside of the country. We spent the week in Quito and then returned home to Las Vegas, Nevada.  We originally contacted an attorney in Quito to help us with obtaining our Visa’s.  We ended up with a communication gap and after two months of getting no where we started to look else where for help.  It was through the internet that we discovered Relocation Services of Ecuador.  We read an article that was written by Relocation Services of Ecuador and Paul Wilches and it was called “A New Horizon’s of Life.”  We contacted Relocation Services of Ecuador and he said that Relocation Services could be our firm on the ground that could save us money and walk us through all the different processes.  Relocation Services also said that he could help us with our shipping needs.  They handled all of our legal paper work for our Visa’s.  RSE and his staff assisted us with shipping our 20 foot container.  A sample inventory list was provided to us which we used to make our own inventory list. It had been explained to us exactly what could and could not be placed into out container and how each box was to be labeled and marked.  Our container was delivered to our front door in Las Vegas, Nevada.  We had packed our own boxes, but we had someone load our container.
